Morning Devotional: Galatians 5:14/Excellent Works that the World Does Not Value

sunrise-sun-morning

I wanted to share this to encourage you.  We are doing a good work in the name of Christ.  Even if that work isn’t recognized as a good work by the world.  All that matters is that it is recognized by God.

Galatians 5:14 “For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

Martin Luther states in his commentary,

“To serve one another in love, i.e.,

  • To instruct the erring
  • To comfort the afflicted
  • To raise the fallen
  • To help one’s neighbor in every possible way
  • To bear with his infirmities
  • To endure hardships
  • Toil
  • Ingratitude in the Church and in the world
  • To obey government
  • To honor one’s parents
  • To be patient at home with a nagging wife and an unruly family

These things are not at all regarded as good works.  The fact is, they are such excellent works that the world cannot possibly estimate them at their true value.”

Be encouraged today that the excellent work Christ has for us is being accomplished through our everyday actions.  It is an excellent work!

Praying you have a great week,

Marcy Pedersen
